Job Description Summary Responsible for employment services which promote the economic integration of newcomers. In this sense, they must plan, organize, and execute activities aimed at settling newcomers by creating links between them and employment opportunities in the region. Employment workers also work to increase community awareness of immigration and cultural diversity. The job requires being available to travel outside the region and the province at times, as well as to work occasional evenings and weekends.
The Restigouche Multicultural Association is a Newcomer Settlement Agency which serves the area of Restigouche County.
Key duties include the following tasks:
Identify and develop workshops and webinars on workplace essential skills, Canadian workplace culture, safety, employment rights, networking, etc;
Offer cross-cultural training to newcomers entering the Canadian workforce;
Support newcomers in gaining workplace skills and connect to job opportunities and pathways that match their skills;
Improve employer engagement with settlement agency and newcomers through regular engagement, training and outreach;
Connect newcomers to support programs;
Facilitate regional collaborations with other organizations, the public and private entities to promote shared goals and objectives;
Support local employers with their newcomer recruiting needs;
Collaborate/partner with NBMC and other Settlement Agencies in NB (best practices and common projects);
Assist in RMA's newcomer settlement and social integration efforts;
Other duties as required
Requirements, Qualifications & Experience The successful incumbent must possess a genuine interest in helping immigrants settle and integrate in Restigouche.
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work unsupervised
Cross Cultural Sensitivity
Public Relations/Community Outreach experience
Experience working with diverse cultures preferably in non-profit organizations
Excellent problem-solving skills
Post-Secondary Education in a related field or equivalent work experience
Knowledge and training in integration initiatives and employment services
Practical knowledge of the Microsoft Suite and G Suite programs
Strong organizational and report writing skills
Respect and openness to diversity
Team Player
Adaptability to change
The ability to communicate in both English and French, any additional languages will be considered an asset
